COURT ROTATION / PLAYING TIME:
To ensure fair court rotation and playing privileges, each playing group is allowed one-half hour of court time. All members must use the tag board on the front of the Clubhouse to indicate the time the court will be vacated. The clock on the front of the Clubhouse provides the standard time for this process. Players who fail to use their tag appropriately must forfeit the court to waiting players who request use of that court. Members failing to show their card on the tag board may be refused court play. ( See “Tag Board” section for additional information.)

TAG BOARD:
The Tag Board provides for court rotation. A player must use his / her own card, and must be present to tag a court for play. Double-tagging is prohibited. (i.e. Moving your tag ahead while still on the courts.) You may not put your tag on the board while taking lessons. Do not reset your court time after playing, as this will allow for greater fairness in the rotation of the courts.

PLAYING SINGLES WHEN OTHERS ARE WAITING:
Players wishing to play singles must use Court 5 during busy periods. Other courts are for doubles only at such times. ( Busy Period - two doubles groups [or eight members] waiting on the tag board.)

COURT DRESS:
As an established tennis club, we have traditional expectations regarding the standard of dress for all members. Shirts / tops are mandatory to be worn on / off the courts. Players are reminded that jeans, cut-offs, spandex, tank tops for men, and jogging shorts are not permitted. Please wear proper shoes for our Har-Tru Courts.

COURT COURTESY:
Players are expected to return stray balls to the correct courts as soon as possible. Members are reminded that needless noise on / off the courts can be very distracting to other players and our neighbours. Please be polite and respectful when asking for a court to be relinquished.

COURT MAINTENANCE:
All players are required to brush their court prior to leaving it after their allotted time. The Duty Hosts will groom the courts when they are on duty.

GUEST PRIVILEGES:
All members are entitled to use their guest passes. Members must present the passes to the Duty Host for validation prior to playing. Any person residing in the local area (within 20 mile radius) may be a guest at St. George’s no more than three times a year. The sponsoring member must play with the guest, and is responsible for the conduct of his/her guest while at the Club. The sponsoring member will ensure the guest has proper footwear for our courts. Any member can use their guest passes to bring a visitor or a friend residing elsewhere than within a radius of twenty (20) miles for a period not exceeding fourteen (14) days and thereafter for such period, and on such terms, as the Board of Directors shall prescribe. Additional guest passes are available for purchase at the cost of $5.00 each.

CLUB HOUSE:
The upstairs of the Clubhouse is closed to Juniors under the age of 12 unless they are accompanied by an Intermediate or an adult. The upstairs of the Clubhouse is used by the coaches for off-court lessons and for Senior use.

CHILDREN’S SAFETY:
Parents are expected to supervise their children on the Club property. Please note that small children are not permitted within the fenced tennis court area while their parents are on the court.

PETS:
Pets must be on a leash and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets.

GARBAGE:
Receptacles are provided on the grounds and courts to receive garbage. Please ensure that tennis ball can tops are properly discarded because they are very sharp. Chewing gum should never be discarded on the court surface. Please be careful that liquids aren’t spilled on the courts.

CLUB HOURS:
Weather permitting, the Club is open for play from 8:00 am - 10:10 pm. When there is no Club Host on duty, the last person leaving the grounds at night is requested to ensure the Clubhouse and fence gate are securely locked. The Duty Host will usually ask you to leave the courts by 10:10 pm so he / she may clean the courts / club before the lights go out. Members are asked to not use the showers in the Clubhouse after 10:00 pm.

DUTY HOST:
Duty Hosts are appointed by the Club Executive to supervise play on the courts in accordance with the Rules and Regulations of St. George’s Tennis Club. They are required to check for proper footwear as part of their mandate. Please contact the Duty Host if you have any questions regarding the rules and regulations or if you require assistance. The Duty Host will serve as the on-site interpreter of the Club Rules and Regulations.

TOURNAMENTS:
As a member of the Nova Scotia Tennis Association, St. George’s hosts Open Tournaments each summer. They are usually weekend events and our members are invited to play or to watch. Regular club play is suspended during tournaments. However, some courts are usually available for our members to play by Sunday afternoon. We appreciate your cooperation. St George’s is well regarded in the tennis community for the tournaments that it hosts, and we have attracted many new members from players who have visited at the Club for a tournament.

OUR NEIGHBOURS:
St. George’s Tennis Club enjoys a high reputation in the larger community and in the neighbourhood where it is located. Our continued good relations with the community depend on the cooperation of all St. George’s members.
